• Gaiwan

You only need loose leaf tea and hot water.
Porcelain is neutral and does not absorb aroma.
It allows you to taste the tea directly, making it ideal for learning and comparison.
Clay teapots influence flavor over time and are often used after gaining experience.
A fairness pitcher (gong dao bei) ensures even distribution of tea liquor before serving.
Without it, the last cup is often stronger and more bitter.
For rock tea, where extraction timing matters, a fairness pitcher helps maintain balance and consistency.

This porcelain gongfu set works well for oolong, black tea, and white tea.

Ideal for 1–4 people.
The small cups concentrate aroma and maintain temperature during short infusions.
Learn how to hold, pour, and avoid common mistakes — even if you're new to gongfu tea.
Press the lid knob lightly with the index finger, while the thumb and middle finger hold the rim on both sides.
This grip keeps the fingers away from the hot body and makes pouring more precise.
Press the lid knob with the thumb while the ring finger supports the foot.
The rest of the fingers help steady the gaiwan for a more secure hold.
Pour along the inner wall
Helps reduce harshness and keeps the infusion gentler.
Keep the hand away from the hot body
Hold the lid securely while leaving space from the bowl.
Leave a moderate opening
Supports a smoother and more controlled pour.
Let the tea flow out naturally
Safer, cleaner, and less likely to splash.
Pressing too much on the lid –
Too much contact can make the fingers heat up quickly.
Gripping the body too tightly –
Direct contact with the hot porcelain is more likely to burn the hand.
Leaving the opening too narrow –
A narrow gap slows the pour and can cause spilling.
Holding for too long –
Longer contact with heat makes pouring less comfortable.

Love this tea cup and gaiwan! They complete my tea corner, and I even take them on trips to brew tea with the Magic Cup—so convenient. Packaging was great, and the storage box is super handy.
