Description

Teaviews recommend

The Longquan celadon hat cup is one of the classic shapes of Chinese utensils. It has a large cup mouth, a body with a tilt angle, and a short foot, so its production process is arduous. The clay embryo is easy to collapse and deform during firing, so the completion rate of the finished product is low, which is a great challenge to the crafter’s skills.

This hat cup is handmade by Pan Junquan, the inheritor of intangible cultural heritage. He uses high white clay as raw materials, adjusts the shape by accurately controlling the kiln temperature and time, and uses an exclusive formula secret glaze to make the glaze moist like ice, showing infinite artistic charm. It has a smooth waist line, and when you hold it in your hand, it will feel cool and smooth. If you look closely, there are traces at the bottom of the cup that resemble earthworms crawling over in paddy fields, which is a unique pattern that the glaze water naturally presents during the firing process. If you look at it under the light, the body of the cup is immediately translucent and moving, which is very eye-catching.

Master Introduction

Pan Jun studied under the national-level ceramic master Xu Dingchang. In 1986, he entered Longquan Porcelain Factory to learn the entire process of celadon firing from veteran celadon artisans. Over nearly 40 years of artistic creation, his celadon works have developed their own artistic style. From raw material processing, glaze formula, shaping to firing, he has his own pursuit standards. His love for jade has enabled him to successfully research and develop glazes such as powder blue, rice yellow, and plum green, which not only achieve the color of jade but also have a smooth texture like polished high-grade gemstones.
