After I started learning about tea, I often encountered questions like this. Let’s be real, I’m a total coffee nut (and always will be). Whether it’s a strong espresso, a carefully made pour – over, or a quick – fix drip – coffee bag, coffee is my go – to for starting each day.
But over time, one cup just didn’t cut it. I needed a second to make it through the afternoon at work, and sometimes a third to survive endless meetings. Then, the not – so – fun stuff started. I couldn’t sleep at night, my hands shook, my heart raced, and my mind got all foggy.
It didn’t take a genius to figure out who the troublemaker was: caffeine, that little thing I love and hate at the same time.Tea and coffee? Both are fantastic. No flaws there! But here’s the deal: we’ve gotta know their differences. That’s how we pick the right one for our bodies or any situation.

Looking at it this way, although tea, like coffee, is rich in caffeine, there are differences in the data. However, this comparison still can’t solve specific problems. My Google search history looked like this:
“matcha vs coffee Oura ring results”
“how to stop caffeine anxiety”
“how to sleep after coffee”
“how to quit coffee without headaches”
“calm energy drinks”
“low caffeine tea for sleep”
……
Yes, if the caffeine content in tea isn’t that high. Then why do my friends often say to me, “I really like tea, but I can’t fall asleep after drinking it.” Are they lying and turning down my invitation? :)We can figure out this problem from these three aspects.
– Found in green / white / oolong teas – Partners with caffeine to boost “alpha brain waves” (calm alertness) → Less “fight-or-flight” mode. – Google searches trending:”tea calm energy reddit”
Tea’s natural polyphenols slow caffeine absorption—no rollercoaster energy spikes.
Coffee’s 2pm slump? Thank chlorogenic acid’s rapid metabolizing. Tea drinkers report 23% fewer crashes (*2019 NutrionX Study*).
White/ black tea before bed? Still risky, but oolong drinkers fall asleep 18% faster than coffee fans (*Sleep Health Journal 2022*).
